The Signs & Marking staff is responsible for all street markings, sign construction and maintenance of these items on all city-owned streets.  This consists of fabricating all signs from raw materials, placement of street markings, and the lettering and numbering of all city department vehicles. The sign crew is responsible for setup of signs and barricades required for city road closures  Sign staff also assists the engineering division with traffic counts.

Can the sign shop make me a sign for my private residence/business?

No.  Signs created by the City sign shop can only be used on public right-of –way.

Does the sign department paint all the lines on the streets?

A contract is awarded every year for the striping of the major streets.  Painted curbs, stop bars, handicap spaces, and minor lane markings are all done by the sign division.
