What is the Cleveland Metropolitan Planning Organization?
Cleveland Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is responsible for all transportation planning projects, plans and services in the Cleveland “Urban Area”. A map of the Urban Area is available on this website. The MPO has a technical committee of representatives from City of Cleveland, Bradley County, The Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, The Southeast Tennessee Development District, The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency, The Tennessee Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and Federal Transit Administration. The MPO also has an Executive Board consisting representatives from the City of Cleveland, Bradley County, The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency, and the Governor’s representative.
The MPO carries out the 5-step planning process to ensure that transportation projects, plans and services are successfully implemented. 2035 BCC Joint Strategic Plan
The MPO has partnered with the City of Cleveland, Bradley County, the Chamber of Commerce, local utility providers, and others to assist in the development of a county-wide Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan will guide decisions that need to be made in the next 5 to 10 years especially, and to look into the future out to the year 2035.
